Midfielder Could Form Part Of Zakaria Agreement
Arsenal will offer Granit Xhaka back to his former club Borussia Monchengladbach as part of a deal for Denis Zakaria.
Xhaka hasn’t played for the Gunners since a verbal altercation with the club’s fans when he was substituted during the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace last month. The assumption is that he will be transferred in January and recent reports have claimed he is a target for AC Milan as well as Newcastle United.
But the Daily Mirror claims Xhaka could be heading back to Germany as part of a move for Monchengladbach midfielder Zakaria. Any deal would give the Gunners first refusal on Zakaria should he decide to leave next summer. Such a deal would be very difficult to enforce given that the 22-year-old would want a say in his own future.
The side are top of the Bundesliga with Zakaria making eleven league appearances for the side – 10 of which as a member of the starting eleven. He moved to Monchengladbach from Young Boys in his homeland of Switzerland in 2017.
