Bale Linked With Pogba Swap
Manchester United are closing in on the transfer of Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale. That’s according to The Sun On Sunday.
The paper claims Bale could be a United player as early as January – if not in the winter transfer window then certainly next summer.
Bale saw a £1 million a week move to Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning blocked at the last minute by Real during the summer. The Sun claims it’s because they were convinced there was interest from United. However, reports at the time suggested the move to China came about precisely because the Red Devils were no longer keen.
Real president Florentino Perez has changed his mind once again, largely because of negative comments about the Welshman by coach Zinedine Zidane. But the La Liga giants wants Paul Pogba as part of any deal and that could delay the transfer until the summer.
There must be doubts about whether Manchester United are getting an adequate replacement for Pogba in the 30-year-old Bale. Plus his £650,000-a-week wage must drop before the Red Devils will sanction any deal.
Meanwhile, Manchester United will face competition from Paris Saint-Germain for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho. The 19-year-old England international is a summer target for PSG who are willing to pay £120 million, according to the Sunday Express.
Liverpool are also being linked.
Manchester United are keeping tabs on West Bromwich Albion winger Mattheus Pereira. The 23-year-old is on loan at the Baggies from Sporting Lisbon.
West Brom have an option to make the deal permanent next summer for a fee of €10 million (currently worth £8.25 million).
