No Meal Between Sanllehi, Mourinho
Arsenal are trying to distance themselves from reports that head of football Raul Sanllehi dined recently with Jose Mourinho.
The report – which appeared on Sunday morning – has fuelled rumours that Mourinho could be in line to replace under-fire Arsenal boss Unai Emery.
But sources at the Emirates are claiming that the two men did not meet and that they haven’t spoken to each other for years.
The Gunners’ recent poor run of form has left them in fifth place in the Premier League but six points adrift of the Champions League spots.
Mourinho has been out of work for almost a year since being sacked by Manchester United just before last Christmas. He retains a home in north London which he has owned since his second stint as manager of Chelsea. He has also been linked with Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Emery is believed to have been given a month to save his Arsenal job.
