January Move For Werner?
Manchester United are being linked with a move for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
The Germany international only signed a new four-year deal with the Bundesliga side this summer. However, the contract is unusual in that it includes a release clause – said to be just €30 million (£27 million).
The Sunday Mirror claims United are ready to make a January move for Werner who has scored nine goals in ten Bundesliga games for Leipzig so far this season at an average of one for every 90 minutes on the pitch.
The report adds that the Red Devils will beat Liverpool to the 23-year-old’s signature. The Merseyside club have been linked with Werner over each of the past three summers. However, a move has never looked likely and it is thought the Merseyside club’s interest in now at an end.
Manchester United are still looking to replace Romelu Lukaku who left for Inter Milan in the summer after finishing as top scorer in each of the last two seasons. They failed to score in the defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday for only the third time this season in the league, but that stat hides a deficiency in front of goal that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes Werner may help to fix. United have scored just 13 goals in 11 Premier League games.
