Zlatan Out Of Contract This Winter
Manchester United are keen on re-signing former player Zlatan Ibrahimovic according to reports from Italy.
The former Sweden international left Old Trafford for MLS side LA Galaxy in 2018. He had one full season at Old Trafford following a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain before a cruciate knee ligament injury suffered in April 2017 effectively ended his time at the club.
But Italian website Tuttomercatoweb claims that with his contract at Galaxy set to expire at the end of the year the 38-year-old is now considering his options.
The report from Italy claims there has been “a small contact” from Old Trafford. However, United will be up against a big offer from Galaxy. The MLS side have offered him €7 million a year after tax – that’s around £120,000 a week in his hand.
Ibrahimovic has become a talismanic figure for Galaxy and his goalscoring record suggests he is worth the money to the Californian club. He averaged a goal a game in the 2019 season that only ended when the side were knocked out by local rivals LAFC in the Conference Semi-Finals of the MLS play-offs.
The Swede is also the subject of interest from Serie A. Bologna are keen, while Napoli have also made an enquiry
At present all the signs point to an extended stay in America for Ibrahimovic rather than a move back to Manchester United.
