Serie A side Napoli expect Manchester United to sign RB Salzburg striker Erling Braut Haaland in the January transfer window.

Reports from Italy claim Napoli have withdrawn their interest in the 19-year-old Haaland who has scored 21 goals in 14 games for Salzburg so far this season.

Haaland became the first person since Wayne Rooney in 2004 to score a hat-trick on his Champions League debut when he netted three in the 6-2 defeat of Genk. He has gone on to score three more to make it six in three games in Europe’s top competition.

Manchester United are one of a number of clubs interested in the Norway international – the son of former Leeds United and Manchester City defender Alf Inge Haaland. Corriere dello Sport believes a move to Old Trafford is on the cards in the January transfer window. However, Salzburg have close links to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig and there have been a number of transfers between the two clubs – usually with the German club buying from their Austrian rivals.

Any move mid-season looks unlikely. Salzburg are more likely to wait until next summer before parting with their man.

Red Devils Following French Duo

Manchester United are interested in signing the French pair of striker Moussa Dembele and midfielder Boubakare Soumare. That’s according to ESPN.

Lyon front-man Dembele has long been linked with United. The former Celtic striker is believed to be unhappy with Lyon as he is often required to make way for former United striker Memphis Depay.

Soumare is a more likely target. Lille are constantly open to the sale of their best talent and United scouts have watched the 20-year-old in action on a number of occasions this season. Representatives from Old Trafford watched him star for Lille in a 1-1 draw with Valencia in the Champions League last week.
