United Ready To Pay £100m
Manchester United are prepared to meet Borussia Dortmund’s terms for the transfer of Jadon Sancho.
United are being strongly linked with a move for the England international at the end of the season having been knocked back in their pursuit of Sancho this summer.
According to the Daily Mirror, United are ready to match the Bundesliga side’s £100 million valuation of Sancho.
The 19-year-old left the Premier League in 2017 when Manchester City took £9 million from Dortmund for a player who had yet to figure regularly in their first team. Since his arrival in Germany he has scored 18 goals and provided 30 assists in 68 appearances to cement his place as one of Europe’s most exciting new talents.
Under the terms of the transfer agreement between City and Dortmund the Premier League champions have the opportunity to match any transfer fee offered to the German side. However, City would have to dig deep – even by their standards – to match any offer from United.
Exit Beckons For Rakitic
Meanwhile, another summer transfer target for Manchester United, Ivan Rakitic of Barcelona, is open to offers for a move in January.
United were linked with the 31-year-old in the summer although he almost moved to Paris Saint-Germain as part of the deal that would have seen Neymar return to the Nou Camp.
Rakitic has played just 206 minutes in Barca’s 12 games so far this season and his future appears to be as a squad member rather than as one of the starting eleven.
According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, Rakitic is ready to move on in January.
Juventus are also being linked.
