DC, Miami Linked
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is being linked with a move to MLS side DC United.
The former Germany international has made just four appearances for the Gunners so far this season having fallen down the pecking order under Unai Emery.
But the official MLS website claims that if Ozil’s situation doesn’t improve he is open to a move to the USA. However, he is not looking to submit a formal transfer request.
DC United saw their participation in the MLS play-offs come to an end last week with a 5-1 extra-time defeat to Toronto FC. Ozil would count as a ‘designated player; falling outside the league’s salary cap and he would, in effect, be replacing Wayne Rooney who has left the club for Championship side Derby County.
David Beckham’s Inter Miami are also believed to be interested as they begin to assemble a squad ahead of their debut next season.
