Bale Finally Heading To United?
Real Madrid could offer Gareth Bale to Manchester United as part of a deal to take Paul Pogba to the Bernabeu.
Bale turned 30 in July and his time at Real looks to be up. He looked set to join Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning in a deal that would have seen him paid £1 million a week. But Real president Florentino Perez intervened and the move collapsed.
Bale was Perez’s signing back in 2013 and the Real chief saw him as the natural successor to Cristiano Ronaldo. However, he scored just 14 goals in 42 games last season – the first since Ronaldo’s departure – and matters haven’t improved this campaign. He has found the net just twice in seven appearances and Perez’s patience is finally at an end.
Real still want Paul Pogba having been quoted £160 million by Manchester United this summer. According to Spanish newspaper El Desmarque, Perez will offer Bale plus €100 million (£90 million). Real value Bale at €80 million (£72 million).
United have been linked with Bale on an annual basis since his move from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013. Whether they are still interested now he has turned 30 remains to be seen. There was certainly no interest this summer when it looked as though the Wales international was set to leave.
