Manchester United News: Napoli Chief Admits Koulibaly Could Be Sold

De Laurentiis Hints At Exit

Kalidou Koulibaly Manchester United transfer news

The president of Serie A side Napoli admits the club will have to sell Manchester United transfer target Kalidou Koulibaly at some stage.

United were linked with the Senegal international both in the January transfer window and during the summer. The January move was scuppered because Napoli weren’t prepared to lose one of their star players halfway through the season. A price tag of over £100 million saw interest cool from the Premier League side and they signed Harry Maguire from Leicester City for £80 million.

Speaking to Sky Italia, the Serie A side’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis admitted he won’t be able to hang on to the 28-year-old Koulibaly for ever.

“I am fond of Koulibaly and I have not sold him even for €105 million (£90 million), then there will come a time when I will be forced to sell Koulibaly.”

The defender has played in six out of Napoli’s eight Serie A matches so far this season. He is under contract until 2023 having signed a new deal in September 2018.
