Brazilian Saw Move Collapse In The Summer

Barcelona legend Lionel Messi admits that some people at the club do not want to see Neymar return to the Nou Camp.

The Brazil international was linked during the summer with a return to the club he left for Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 in a deal worth €222 million. But Neymar has sometimes cut an isolated figure at PSG and his relationship with both the club’s fans and some of his team-mates often not what it should be.

A move back to Barca looked to be on the cards this summer as the Catalan side proposed a cash-plus-player deal. However, the transfer fell apart when Ousmane Dembele refused to move to PSG on a season-long loan.

A fresh move from Barca could still happen, though not before next summer. But in an interview with the Buenos Aires radio station Metro 95.1, Neymar claimed a return wouldn’t be universally popular.

“It is difficult to bring him back,” said the Argentine.

“Firstly because it was difficult to see him leave, secondly because of how he left. There are people from the club and the members who do not want him to return.

“If it is for sports, Ney is one of the best in the world, but I understand all the other factors.”
