But Real May Demand Pogba
Manchester United want to sign Toni Kroos from Real Madrid; however, the La Liga giants may ask for Paul Pogba in return.
German newspaper Bild reports today that the Red Devils are interested in once again in Kroos, a player they were linked with in 2014 when he was on the verge of leaving Bayern Munich. On that occasion he chose a move to Real whom he joined in a deal worth around £24 million.
Kroos was linked with an exit from Real during the summer. That didn’t happen. But Bild claims Manchester United are willing to pay €75 million (£66.9 million) for a player who turns 30 in early January. It adds that United bid that amount in the spring of this year and as a result he signed a new contract that could keep him at Real until 2023.
However, Bild’s initial source for the story isn’t the most reliable. The source is Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda from the TV programme El Chiringuito, a show that deals in the sensational rather than the factual. In this case he adds that Real will only allow Kroos to join Manchester United if Paul Pogba moves to the Bernabeu.
Real were interested in Pogba this summer but were told by United he would cost £160 million.
