Juve Pair To Team Up At United – Or Tottenham?
Former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri would want Patrice Evra as part of his backroom team if he took over as manager of Manchester United.
That’s according to the Daily Mail in a speculative piece which is based on a sighting of the pair at Tottenham Hotspur’s 7-2 home defeat by Bayern Munich last month.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under fire following a disastrous start to the season that has left the side languishing in mid-table just two points above the relegation zone.
But Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is equally under fire following the thrashing by Bayern and a 3-0 defeat to Brighton the following weekend. Allegri is a candidate to replace the Argentine should Spurs decide to pull the trigger.
Evra played under Allegri when the pair were at Juventus and the Mail claims the former France international would be wanted by Allegri for his knowledge of the English game.
The Italian has been out of work since leaving Juve at the end of last season. But he is thought to be keen on taking a year-long sabbatical which means he would remain on the sidelines until next summer.
However, his name is likely to be in the frame if any of England’s top clubs decide to sack their manager. He has been taking English lessons – and was doing so over a year ago when he was linked with Arsenal before Arsene Wenger retired.
Meanwhile, one of Manchester United’s ruling Glazer family wants to sell his 13 percent stake in the club.
Kevin Glazer is one of six siblings with shares in United. Documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission in the US shows that 20,899,366 B shares owned by the Kevin Glazer Irrevocable Exempt Family Trust have been converted into A shares enabling them to be traded on the New York Stock Exchange. The stake is currently worth around £270 million.
A full sale by the Glazers isn’t thought to be on the cards. The family were approached by Saudi interests last year only to be sold the club wasn’t for sale.
