Rakitic Set For Exit
Manchester United are believed to have opened talks with Barcelona over a move for midfielder Ivan Rakitic.
The Croatia international was a United target during the summer but he instead agreed to move to Paris Saint-Germain as part of a deal that would have brought Neymar back to the Nou Camp. However, the transfer collapsed when Ousmane Dembele refused to move to PSG on a season-long loan.
Barca are still open to an exit for Rakitic and Manchester United have asked about his availability in the January transfer window. Inter Milan are also keen.
But Barca have put a price of €40 million (£36 million) on a player who is 31 years old and United will almost certainly baulk at that price for a player over 30.
Rakitic has played at the heart of Barcelona’s midfield since arriving in an €18 million transfer from Sevilla in 2014. But he has fallen down the pecking order this season with just six appearances only one of which has come as a member of the starting line-up.
Meanwhile, Juventus are set to demand at least £10 million for the striker Mario Mandzukic. United were linked with the Croatian in the summer as part of a double-deal involving Paulo Dybala. But the transfer collapsed when Dybala refused to move to England.
United are believed to have come to an agreement with the 33-year-old who has yet to feature for Juventus so far this season.
