Manchester United News: Mandzukic Deal, Pogba Demand

Croatian Edges Closer Despite His Age

Mario Mandzukic Manchester United transfer news

Manchester United have a verbal agreement in place with Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic. The Croatia international will move to Old Trafford on 1 January according to one report.

Italian outlet Tuttosport claims Manzdukic’s representatives have come to an agreement with United. However, there is no mention of any transfer fee agreed with Juventus.

Mandzukic was linked during the summer with a £15 million move to Old Trafford. That fell apart largely over concerns about his age. But those concerns won’t have been allayed. The Croatian is 33 years old. Moreover, he isn’t match fit. He has yet to play a single minute under new boss Maurizio Sarri although the former Chelsea manager has told Mandzukic that he remains part of his plans.

Meanwhile, the same outlet claims Paul Pogba is nowhere near signing a new contract with Manchester United.

Tuttosport claims that after asking for a transfer in the summer Pogba hasn’t returned to the subject. However, it adds that he has requested a deal worth €30 million a year – the same that Cristiano Ronaldo earns at Juventus.

Pogba’s contract expires in 2021; however, United have an option to extend the deal by another year.

Juventus are keeping a close eye on the situation.
