Dembele, Longstaff In January Link
Manchester United want to sign Moussa Dembele and Sean Longstaff in the January transfer window. That’s according to the Daily Star.
United were linked with Lyon striker Dembele last week when it was claimed that scouts from Old Trafford were present at recent games with Brest, Paris Saint-Germain and Zenit St Petersburg to run the rule over former Celtic striker. Dembele has scored six goals in eight games so far this season.
Lyon coach Sylvinho has rotated between Dembele and the French side’s other main forward, former Manchester United man Memphis Depay, in a bid to keep the Dutchman happy. That means Dembele has had to miss out on occasions and the feeling is that he could be ready to push for a move.
United were interested in Newcastle United midfielder Longstaff during the summer transfer window but were unwilling to meet the Magpies’ £30 million valuation.
But the Star believes United are now willing to pay even more than that for the 21-year-old who has played five Premier League games for the Toon so far this season. It claims Ed Woodward is willing to go as high as £40 million for Longstaff and £50 million for Dembele as executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward splashes the cash to bolster his failing squad.
Manchester United lie in tenth place in the Premier League table with just nine points from their opening seven games – their worst start to a season in 30 years.
