Manchester United To Battle City For Youngster

Premier League Pair Watching Evjen

Manchester United transfer news and rumours

Manchester United could miss out to local rivals Manchester City in the race for talented Norwegian teenager Hakon Evjen.

The 19-year-old central midfielder plays for Bodo/Glimt in Norway’s top flight and has already made 39 first-team appearances for the club.

United scouts have watched Evjen extensively over the Norwegian season which runs over the summer months. The Norway Under-20 international has scored nine goals and provided four assists in 19 games for Bodo/Glimt who are currently second in the table.

The Norwegian side claims that both Manchester United and Manchester City recently sent scouts to watch Evjen in action in the 3-1 victory over Stromsgodset, a game in which Evjen scored twice.

When asked after the match if he knew that scouts from the Manchester clubs were present he replied:

“No, but for me it doesn’t matter. It’s obviously fun, but I try not think about it too much.”

He went on: “If you want to hear something, you can chat with my agent. I don’t know, we’ll see. Nothing has come yet, but I have always been a United boy.

“Of course, City is one of the world’s best football teams. A choice is difficult.”

Anderlecht, AZ Alkmaar and clubs in Italy and Germany are also watching Evjen.
