Neymar looks set to remain with Paris Saint-Germain for the rest of the season after a transfer to Barcelona collapsed.

Barca looked set to pay €200 million (£182 million) in cash, plus Ivan Rakitic, Jean-Clair Todibo and a season-long loan for Ousmane Dembele. But Dembele says he has no interest in spending the season at PSG and the bid now looks doomed to failure.

The Catalan press still claims there is a chance a deal could be done although Sport newspaper admitted the two sides are as far away from doing a deal as they have been all summer.

PSG sporting director Leonardo suggested after Friday’s victory over Metz that talks are still taking place.

“Our position on a potential departure of Neymar is clear, everyone knows what we want. We got a first written offer on 27 August and we refused it, the conditions didn’t suit us. There are three days until the end of the transfer window, and for the moment, there is no agreement. We’re talking a lot, with Neymar in particular. He’s an extraordinary player, I didn’t know him personally before I came back to Paris. He has gone through a lot of things, he’s a football star today, I like him a lot, we have a good relationship with him.”

Sky Sports claims sources at the French club have told them that Neymar will “fulfil the remainder of his contract and commitments.” That statement is also being backed up by French newspaper L’Equipe which claims Neymar has pledged the rest of the season to the Ligue 1 club.
