Sancho In Fresh Transfer Link With United
Manchester United are ready to make Borussia Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho their top target in the January transfer window.
United were linked with Sancho earlier this summer but were told by Dortmund he wasn’t for sale. The England international was reported on Wednesday to be on the brink of signing a new deal with the German club. Sancho’s current deal runs to 2022.
But Dortmund are likely to dig in their heels over a possible exit for the 19-year-old who has scored two goals in three games so far this season. The Bundesliga side stated earlier in the summer that he was unlikely to leave in the close season and the chances of a departure in the middle of the campaign would be equally small especially if Dortmund make it to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
The Sun claims United will launch a bid worth £100 million.
De Gea Drags His Heels
The same source claims David De Gea has yet to put pen to paper on a new contract with Manchester United.
The Spain international has been offered a deal worth £350,000 a week but the main sticking point is the club’s insistence that failure to qualify for the Champions League will see wages reduced by 25 per cent. In De Gea’s case that would put him on £263,000 a week.
It isn’t known whether the delay has come at the club’s end or if De Gea is dragging his feet. His contract expires next summer and speculation suggests he could keep United waiting until January before putting pen to paper.
The new deal could keep the Spain international at Old Trafford until 2025.
