Sanchez Closes In On Inter Switch
Manchester United and the agent of Alexis Sanchez had talks on Sunday over a loan move to Inter Milan for the United midfielder. The Chile international looks set to agree a move by Tuesday.
Reports on Sunday claimed Sanchez was set to move to Inter having agreed personal terms. But the figures being discussed in the Italian press are much less than those being touted in the British media over the weekend.
Rather than paying a loan fee of €5 million (£4.5 million) and a permanent transfer fee of €18 million (£16.5 million) in 2021, Inter will pay just €2-3 million (£1.8 – 2.7 million) now and €12-15 million (£10.9-13.7 million) if they choose to make the deal permanent next summer. That’s according to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
Sanchez’s agent Fernando Felicevich in the UK and met with United officials on Sunday.
Sanchez has been linked with a number of clubs this summer. A move to Roma appeared to be on the cards until it was rejected by the Chilean. Juventus and AC Milan were also linked and there has been some interest over the past few days with Atletico Madrid.
But the 30-year-old has his heart set on a move to Inter who are coached by former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.
The transfer deadline for Serie A clubs is on Friday night. The league kicks off this weekend.
Manchester United are in talks over a new deal for Ivory Coast international defender Eric Bailly.
The 25-year-old is out of contract next summer and United are worried about losing him for nothing. He can open talks with overseas clubs from 1 January.
Bailly is out of action until January with a medial knee ligament injury he picked up pre-season but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants him to remain as understudy to first-choice centre-backs Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.
However, there are reports that there is a clause in Bailly’s contract giving the club an option to extend his deal by up to two years.
