Midfielder Set For Exit?
Manchester United midfielder Alexis Sanchez is about to have talks with Inter Milan over a season-loan at the Serie A club.
Sanchez has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford following a disappointing season-and-a-half with United. He scored just three times in 36 appearances last season.
According to the Mail On Sunday, Inter are willing to pay a loan fee of €5 million (£4.5 million) with a further €18 million (at present worth £16.5 million) at the end of a second season-long loan.
However, Manchester United would prefer a straight sale worth €25 million (£23 million). Although the Red Devils didn’t pay a fee for Sanchez, the player who left for Arsenal in a straight swap, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, was worth £21 million when he left and it is thought that United valued Sanchez at that amount when he was bought.
The Chile international currently earns around £500,000 a week and is said to be willing to take a pay cut to push through the move to Inter.
Sanchez turned down a move to Roma despite United offering to pay a large chunk of his wages. Roma’s failure to qualify for the Champions League is thought to have been a factor. Inter’s third-place finish in Serie A last season means they are back in Europe’s top competition for the second successive season.
Real Madrid are expected to make a fresh bid for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba. However, the bid is expected to be rejected by United who have seen both Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini leave the club this calendar year.
The La Liga transfer window doesn’t close until 2 September.
