Manchester United News: Pogba, Eriksen, Koulibaly

Pogba Still Wants Transfer

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba still wants a move to Real Madrid before the transfer window closes in Spain on 2 September.

The Madrid-based newspaper Marca claims Pogba is still desperate to move to the Bernabeu despite being told during the summer by United that there was no chance of any transfer.

Despite Pogba’s wishes the chances of him making the move are slim. Not only are United unwilling to sell but Real Madrid aren’t willing to meet the €160 million valuation the Red Devils put on Pogba at the end of last season. Plus United can no longer replace Pogba with the transfer window in the Premier League now closed.

Marca adds that Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola will have a meeting with United officials in which he will stress that the France international wants to leave. Whether that will get through to the powers-that-be at United is another thing altogether.

Eriksen, Koulibaly

Meanwhile, there is news today of two players Manchester United pursued but failed to land during the transfer window.

First of all, the Tottenham Hotspur forward Christian Eriksen spoke to United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the closing days of the transfer window. The Denmark international was linked with interest from Old Trafford and Solskjaer tried to gauge whether or not he was interested in joining United. The answer from Eriksen was that his preference is to move to Spain.

Real Madrid have been linked but with Neymar and Pogba also on their wish-list before the transfer deadline a move for Eriksen looks to be well down their list of priorities.

Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport claims United put in a bid for Napoli central defender Kalidou Koulibaly during the transfer window.

It says a bid worth €90 million (at present worth around £82 million) was turned down by the Serie A side. Koulibaly looks set to stay with Napoli.
