Pogba Still Hinting At Exit But United Won’t Budge
Manchester United are reported to be puzzled about Paul Pogba’s latest comment about his future.
Speculation has increased over the France international despite the transfer window having closed for the Premier League. Pogba is being linked with interest from Real Madrid and the latest reports claim that interest will only end if the La Liga side sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain.
But comments made by Pogba following Sunday’s 4-0 victory over Chelsea have been met with some bemusement at Old Trafford. Speaking to French radio station RMC, Pogba said:
“Only time will tell but I remain on this question mark, but as I said, I’m in Manchester, I’m having fun with my teammates, I always want to win my matches and acquit myself thoroughly.”
United have always insisted that Pogba remains a vital part of their plans and they have never entertained the prospect of him leaving this summer. That’s partly down to his commercial attraction – he is one of the top five most marketable players in the world.
Meanwhile, former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince claims that despite Pogba’s comments his heart isn’t fully in the job.
“Sometimes his concentration levels weren’t as they should have been. Maybe he still has it in his mind that he’s going to get away before the European window shuts in a couple of weeks,” said Ince.
“He’s saying all the right things off the pitch, but I wonder if that’s because he has one eye on the exit door. No one is going to be totally happy and confident he’s staying until the window shuts in Spain, Italy etcetera.
“You’ve got a big decision after that. If he doesn’t go to Real Madrid, how’s he going to react with his performances at United, at least up until January? With him, the toys are often thrown out of the pram, but if he’s staying he needs to knuckle down for the club.”
