Talks Could Take Place This Weekend
Barcelona have received an offer for the loan of Philippe Coutinho with some outlets suggesting he could be a loan target for Arsenal.
Coutinho has fallen down the pecking order at the Nou Camp with Ousmane Dembele and Arturo Vidal often ahead of him towards the end of last season.
The Catalan newspaper Sport claims there has been the offer from an un-named club for Coutinho. Barcelona are looking for a permanent transfer although they would consider a loan deal.
But rumours are claiming that the relationship Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi has with Barcelona – the club where he spent 14 years as part of the club’s marketing and football secretariats – has put the Gunners in pole position for Coutinho.
Barca take on Arsenal on Sunday and reports suggest talks will take place between officials from the two clubs.
Coutinho was linked last season with Manchester United. But he was booed by United fans over his Liverpool connections when the two sides clashed in the Champions League last season and that pretty much ended United’s interest.
The Brazilian scored 54 goals and provided 45 assists in 201 appearances for Liverpool before a move to Barcelona in January 2018 in a deal worth an initial £105 million.
