Gunners Linked With Fresh Move For
Arsenal are attempting to sign Juventus central defender Daniele Rugani on a two-year loan deal.
The Gunners have been linked in the past with Rugani, who turned 25 earlier this week. Arsene Wenger tried to sign him in the summer of 2015 when he was on loan at Empoli. However, Juve blocked the bid. Another attempt to sign him last summer also failed.
But Rugani has been unable to nail down a regular spot in the Juventus starting line-up. He made just 15 starts in Serie A last season following on from 22 in the 2017-18 campaign. The arrival this summer of Matthijs de Ligt from Ajax has put Rugani’s place in the side under even more pressure.
Reports from Italy claim that with the likes of Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci both coming towards the end of their careers Rugani could be a future option for Juve. However, they could be looking to ship him out on loan in order to gain some regular first-team football. That would suggest there is little prospect of a two-year loan going ahead although a one-year temporary move could be on the cards.
No Roma Move For Mustafi
Meanwhile, Arsenal central defender Shkodri Mustafi has yet to be the subject of an offer from Serie A side Roma.
Germany international Mustafi has been linked with the Serie A side but his agent told fan-site Romanews that there has been no interest at all in his client from Italy.
“For me it is something new. There is nothing with the Giallorossi or Italian clubs, I have not had contact for now,” said Mustafi’s father who is also his agent.
Arsenal are being linked with Rugani as part of a defensive crisis. But any exit for Mustafi might have to wait.
