Arsenal Return With Revised Proposal
Arsenal are closing in on a move for Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney.
The Gunners saw a bid worth up to £25 million rejected by the Scottish champions last week. However, part of the fee took the form of add-ons and bonuses. Celtic weren’t happy at not being guaranteed a greater portion of the fee and threw out the proposal.
According to reports, Arsenal have returned with a fresh proposal that is apparently more acceptable to Celtic.
The Gunners face potential problems in defence with Laurent Koscielny unlikely to play for the club again and Hector Bellerin sidelined through injury. Tierney is himself out injured at present.
Arsenal have been pursuing the Scotland international for much of the summer and he is known to be keen to play in the Premier League. But Celtic won’t short-change themselves and are playing hardball over the size of the fee.
Serie A giants Napoli have also been linked with Tierney but coach Carlo Ancelotti would prefer to stick with Faouzi Ghoulam and Mario Rui.
Meanwhile, Lille winger Nicolas Pepe arrived in London on Tuesday for his medical with Arsenal. The Ivory Coast international looks set to complete a move to the Emirates with the transfer likely to be announced in the coming days.
Pepe will cost a club-record £72 million.
