Everton In Pole Position For Zaha
Arsenal’s hopes of signing Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace appear to be fading with Everton currently doing all the running for the Ivory Coast international.
Arsenal have offered Palace £40 million for Zaha but the Eagles are looking for double that amount. The Gunners’ interest appears to have faded and Thursday’s signing of Dani Ceballos on a season-long loan from Real Madrid may well have ended any hopes of a move to the Emirates.
Zaha is believed to be open to a move to Goodison Park. That’s despite Everton not playing in Europe this season.
Gunners Secure Duo
Arsenal confirmed the signing of both Ceballos and of 18-year-old central defender William Saliba who moves for around £27 million from French side St Etienne.
“It’s a massive pleasure to sign for a really, really big English club,” said Saliba who will be loaned back to St Etienne for the coming season. “This is the biggest club in England for me, so it was an easy decision. I didn’t think twice about signing here, so I’m really happy.”
Ceballos claimed his Spain international team-mate Hector Bellerin helped him make his decision and he added:
He added: “I’m really proud to be able to wear this shirt. I’m joining an historic Premier League side and it’s a step forward in my career.”
Ceballos is being seen as the replacement for Aaron Ramsey who left for Juventus at the end of last season.
