Arsenal Closing In On Saliba
Arsenal have beaten Tottenham Hotspur to the signature of St Etienne defender William Saliba.
The 18-year-old has been linked with interest from the Gunners for much of the summer but the transfer hit a snag when St Etienne preferred terms on offer from Spurs.
Saliba will have a medical in London ahead of a £27 million transfer deal. However, he will be loaned back to St Etienne for next season before joining up with the Gunners in the summer of 2020.
The centre-back will be Arsenal’s second signing of the summer following the arrival of Gabriel Martinelli from Brazilian side Ituano. The teenager got on the scoresheet in Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over MLS side Colorado Rapids on Thursday.
Gunners Keen On Kean
Arsenal appear to have turned their attention to Juventus forward Moise Kean. The 19-year-old has impressed for Juve last season but he was restricted to just five starts in Serie A with eight appearances coming off the bench.
The Gunners have made contact with Kean’s agent Mino Raiola. However, Juve are looking to negotiate a new deal before selling him abroad. That would enable them to claim a higher fee. Juventus would also insist on a buyback fee of £36 million as part of any transfer – something Arsenal will resist.
The Premier League club have been tracking Kean since he was part of the academy set-up at Juve. Football Gossip reported their interest as far back as the autumn of 2016.
