Doctor Heads To Brazil
Arsenal have sent a club doctor to Brazil to check out Gremio striker Everton Soares.
The Gunners were linked earlier this week with interest in Everton who ended the recent Copa America as joint top scorer on three goals. He scored in Brazil’s 3-1 victory over Peru in the final.
Fox Sports Brasil claims a medic will check out the 23-year-old ahead of a full medical should a deal go ahead.
Everton has also been linked with interest from AC Milan. However, the size of the fee is a problem for the Serie A side.
Gremio are holding out for €40 million (£36 million) for the Brazil international. However, there are reports that there is an agreement with Arsenal that would see the Gunners pay an initial £25 million with a further £11 million in add-ons and bonuses.
Everton hinted at the weekend that he is close to a move away from Gremio.
“At this moment I have an offer, but I can’t say the name of the club,” he said. “Just like I can’t promise that on Thursday I’ll still be playing for Gremio against Bahia. We’ll see.”
Saliba Transfer At Risk
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s hopes of signing St Etienne defender William Saliba have taken a knock with the news the French club would prefer he moves to the Gunners’ north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Saliba wants a move to the Emirates and he has already agreed personal terms. But Arsenal are offering £25 million for the 18-year-old against Tottenham’s £30 million and St Etienne prefer the higher offer. They also want Saliba to remain with them on loan for the coming season before moving on.
