Fernandes Bid Likely
Manchester United could still make a move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes before the Premier League’s transfer window closes in three weeks’ time according to reports today.
Fernandes has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for much of the summer. The Portugal international is valued at over £50 million by Sporting – a price United aren’t willing to pay.
The Independent claims that despite persistent rumours linking Fernandes with United – rumours that began even before the end of last season – there has yet to be a concrete bid from the Red Devils.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to reshape his midfield with Fernandes and Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff his candidates to fill one role. Like Fernandes, Longstaff is valued at £50 million by his club and United are looking for a lower price before they do any deal.
Lindelof Plays Down Exit Claim
Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof insists he does not want to leave Old Trafford. That’s despite his agent claiming there is interest from Barcelona.
Hasan Cetinkaya claimed the Catalan side are keen to sign Lindelof who joined United from Benfica two summers ago. But Lindelof is trying to distance himself from the claim.
“I’m very, very happy to be a Manchester United player and I’m really looking forward to this season to start and very happy here,” said Lindelof.
“That’s my answer to that.
“I always felt like a Manchester United player but last season was a better season for me, I performed better than I did in my first, pretty.”
He added: “I’m just trying to do my best every day and that’s what I work hard for every day to help the team and the club, so yeah.”
