Fekir Looks Bound For Spain
Arsenal look set to miss out on Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir because they cannot offload Mesut Ozil.
Fekir is being linked with a move away from the French club a year after a £53 million move to Liverpool fell through over concerns about an old knee injury.
Arsenal are being linked with Fekir; however, French newspaper L’Equipe claims that any move for the 25-year-old is dependent on the Gunners parting with Ozil. The former Germany international’s £350,000-a-week wages is a stumbling block to any club wishing to take him on.
Inter Milan have been linked but are unwilling to meet his pay demands, The Serie A side would prefer a loan deal with Arsenal making a significant contribution to Ozil’s wages but the north London side would prefer a straight sale. Ozil won’t leave for a significantly lower wages.
Real Betis, Valencia and Sevilla all lead the running for Fekir. Betis appear to be favourites.
Arsenal are still in talks over a move for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney. The Gunners saw their latest bid worth up to £25 million rejected by Celtic. The Scottish champions are looking for more money up front as part of the deal along with smaller bonus and add-on payments.
