Raiola Makes Claim Over Frenchman
The agent of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba claims the France international wants to leave Old Trafford.
Pogba has been linked with a move either to Real Madrid or to former club Juventus, but in an interview with The Times his agent Mino Raiola suggests the time is ready for a change.
“Everyone knows the willingness of Paul to move on. We are in the process of that. Everyone knows what the feelings of Paul are,” he said.
“Everyone within the club, from the manager to the owner, knows Paul’s wishes.”
United begin their pre-season tour with a trip to Australia. They fly out on Sunday but Raiola couldn’t give any assurances that Pogba will be on the plane.
“I cannot tell you anything. I live day by day,” he said.
United are determined to hang on to Pogba. There is a belief at the club that he can do far better than he did last season despite his goalscoring record of 16 goals in all competitions being the best of his career.
But Pogba is also one of the most marketable players in the world and his commercial value is also a factor in United wanting to hang onto him.
Longstaff Bid Ready
Manchester United are preparing a bid for Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff.
The 21-year-old only broke into the Magpies’ first team last season making nine appearances in the Premier League and a further four in cup competitions before a knee ligament injury brought his season to a premature end in March.
United are said to be preparing a bid of around £25 million, but Sky Sports claims Newcastle are insisting Longstaff isn’t for sale and they will demand around £50 million before any sale goes ahead.
Longstaff signed a new deal last December at St James’s Park and is under contract at the club until 2022.
