Premier League Transfer News Friday 5 July

Fernandes, Marcelo, Maguire

Premier League transfer news and transfer rumours

A decision could be made by Sporting Lisbon this weekend over Manchester United transfer target Bruno Fernandes. United could have the field to themselves for Leicester City defender Harry Maguire after Manchester City decided they would not meet the Foxes’ £75 million valuation for the England international. More on these stories here.

Manchester United could turn to Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez should Paul Pogba leave the club. That’s according to one report today. However, any such move looks unlikely as Atletico will insist on the whole of the Spaniard’s €150 million (£133 million) release clause.

Arsenal are one of a number of clubs interested in Real Madrid left-back Marcelo. The 31-year-old wants to leave the Bernabeu. However, the Gunners have missed out on Dynamo Dresden goalkeeper Markus Schubert. He has joined Schalke 04. Details here.

Arsenal are also interested in Brazilian side Gremio’s Argentine defender Walter Kannemann.

Schubert will replace current Schalke number two keeper Ralf Fahrmann who looks set to join Norwich City on a season-long loan.

West Ham United could miss out to Valencia in the race for Celta Vigo forward Maxi Gomez.

Leicester City and Wolves are both being linked with Burnley defender James Tarkowski.

Crystal Palace are interested in Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Remi Matthews although no official bid has been made yet.

Southampton are open to loan or permanent transfer offers for midfielder Mario Lemina.
