Gunners Could Make Higher Bid For Zaha
Arsenal are ready to make a fresh bid for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha and have much more than the £40 million transfer kitty than people have been led to believe.
The Gunners have bid £40 million for Zaha in a move that has surprised many people. Not only is the bid around half of Palace’s valuation of the Ivory Coast international it would also use up pretty much the whole of the Gunners’ supposed transfer kitty which has been estimated at £40-45 million.
But Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solekhol believes the Gunners could come back with a second bid.
“What I have been told is that it suits Arsenal that people think they only have £45m, because when they get into negotiations over a player, the selling club is going to think Arsenal don’t have much money,” he told the network’s TV programme The Transfer Show.
“What I have been told is that this is a bit of a smokescreen and Arsenal can go up to £70m to buy Wilfried Zaha. £70m is the point at which they would walk away. A deal that would be worth £70m in total.
“We just have to take it with a pinch of salt that Arsenal only have £45m. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world. We are not talking about £300m for Neymar, this is £70m in total. I think Arsenal can do that.”
Malcom Is Alternative
Arsenal have been offered Barcelona winger Malcom as an alternative to Zaha. The Brazilian was linked with the Gunners for much of the 2017-18 campaign but eventually moved to the Nou Camp in a deal worth £35 million. But he has failed to impress coach Ernesto Valverde and is being linked with an exit this summer.
Malcom could possibly done as a loan deal but for the time being the Gunners are concentrating their efforts on Zaha.
