Gunners Bid £40m
Arsenal look set to miss out on Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha as the Eagles dig in their heels over the Ivory Coast international.
Zaha wants to move to the north London club but having sold Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United last week Palace are reluctant to lose a second star player this summer.
According to the Daily Mirror, Palace have already rejected a bid from Arsenal of £40 million. They believe Zaha is worth twice that amount and regard Arsenal’s actions as a bid to deliberately unsettle the 26-year-old.
From Arsenal’s point of view the initial bid for Zaha represents practically the whole of their transfer budget for the coming season.
Palace will have to pay 25 percent of any fee to former club Manchester United following Zaha’s return to Selhurst Park in 2015 following a disappointing spell at Old Trafford.
The Mirror speculates the Gunners may offer players as part of any deal. It speculates that Carl Jenkinson, Shkodran Mustafi, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and even Alex Iwobi could be possible makeweights.
