Lukaku Deal Stalls Over Fee
Inter Milan and Manchester United are still far apart in their respective valuations of Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgium international striker has been linked with a move to the Serie A side this summer. However, United are looking to recoup most of the fee they have paid Everton over the past two seasons. Lukaku moved to Old Trafford for an initial £75 million and United are believed to have coughed up an additional £15 million in various add-ons and bonuses.
United won’t get back the full £90 million but they are looking for €85 million (£76million) for Lukaku. So far Inter have offered just €60 million (£53.3 million).
Fernandes Agent Due To Have Talks
The agent of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes will fly to London this week for talks with Manchester United.
A deal for the Portugal international should have been sorted two weeks ago following the Nations League Final, but it appears to be no nearer completion and agent Miguel Pinho will head to the London office of United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
Reports from Portugal claim United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made a personal plea to Woodward to get the deal over the line before the players reports back for pre-season training next week.
Sporting’s demand for a transfer fee of €70 million (£62 million) is believed to be a sticking point both for United and for Tottenham Hotspur who are also interested.
United Linked With Spanish Left-Back
Manchester United are one of two Premier League clubs chasing Real Betis left-back Junior Firpo.
The 22-year-old is a transfer target for both the Red Devils and for Liverpool. He has previously been linked with Manchester City and Real Madrid although it seems interest has cooled at the Etihad and the Bernabeu.
According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, Liverpool aren’t put off by Firpo’s release clause of €50 million (£44 million). Real will listen to any serious offer for a player who joined the club’s academy system in 2014 aged 18.
