Milan Want Loan
Arsenal have received an offer from AC Milan for Uruguay international midfielder Lucas Torreira.
The 23-year-old has impressed for the Gunners since his move from Sampdoria last summer. But it is believed that he hasn’t settled too well in England and is open to a move back to Italy.
According to Italian news outlet Sport Mediaset, Milan want a two-year loan deal for Torreira with the right to make the deal permanent. Oddly, the report suggests the Serie A outfit will pay a fee of €38 million (£34 million) up-front for Torreira who will pick up wages of €3.5 million a year after tax. Milan would also pay a loan fee of between €5 million and €8 million (£4.5-7 million).
Arsenal are almost certain to reject the idea of a loan deal – even one where they receive a good up-front payment. The danger exists whereby they would have to repay the fee if Milan decide not to exercise the right of redemption.
But the Gunners are in a bind over their transfer budget for the summer. Manager Unai Emery has a maximum of €50 million (£44 million) to spend although he can add to that with money from player sales.
