Solskjaer ‘Wants Pogba Sale’
Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is a transfer priority for Real Madrid this summer.
The France international and Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen are both said to be targets for the La Liga giants who have already embarked on a spending spree so far this summer. Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Ferland Mendy and Rodrygo have all arrived at the Bernabeu so far as Zinedine Zidane looks to rebuild his side.
But according to Goal, Real have cooled their interest in Eriksen and are concentrating their efforts on Pogba. They have met with some resistance from United who are aware of Pogba’s commercial impact. He is regarded as one of the top five most marketable players in the world alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Pogba was at a marketing event last weekend when he hinted at a possible move away from Old Trafford.
“After this season and everything that happened, with my season being my best season, it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else,” he said.
Juventus will challenge Real Madrid for Pogba’s signature.
Meanwhile, the Daily Star claims Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has told the Manchester United hierarchy to sell Pogba. The paper claims he has a transfer kitty of £100 million this summer. The club have signed Daniel James from Swansea City for £15 million – after much haggling over the fee – but look set to miss out on defender Harry Maguire after refusing to meet Leicester City’s asking price of £65 million.
Solskjaer wants his transfer kitty boosted and he knows that will only happen with an exit for Pogba. He will be supported in his view by many Manchester United supporters but the club have one eye on commercial income and that will be a big factor in whether or not he stays.
