Arsenal To Re-Assess Transfers

Gunners To Sell Bellerin To Boost Budget?

Arsenal transfer news

Arsenal are re-assessing their transfer strategy this summer and may have to sell before to bolster their meagre £40 million transfer kitty.

The Gunners have seen their efforts to sign Yannick Carrasco from Dalian Yifang and Ryan Fraser from Bournemouth both stall over the size of the respective fees. Both players will cost at least £30 million with Arsenal reluctant to pay so much.

One option for coach Unai Emery is to sell one or more members of his existing squad in a bid to increase his spending.

Reports today claim Atletico Madrid are interested in full-back Hector Bellerin. The Daily Telegraph suggests that the La Liga side are willing to offer Spanish winger Vitolo as part of any deal.

Juventus were keen last summer on Bellerin but were deterred by Arsenal’s £50 million valuation. The Gunners will demand at least the same again and are unlikely to look upon Vitolo as part of any deal. The 29-year-old has made just 13 starts in La Liga since his arrival from Las Palmas in 2017.

The money from any sale of Bellerin will be re-invested straight into the side but Arsenal are feeling the pinch as they face a third successive season outside the Champions League. With Manchester United allegedly restricted to a spend of £100 million as they look at life outside Europe’s elite Arsenal are having to struggle on with less than half that amount.
