Carrasco Wants Europe Move
Arsenal transfer target Yannick Carrasco admits he wants a return to Europe. But he won’t confirm or deny any interest from the Gunners.
Carrasco wants to leave Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang after just a year-and-a-half in the Far East. His wife has returned to their native Belgium and Carrasco wants a move to be closer to her.
“The whole world knows that I want to return to Europe,” the Belgium international said. “Now, it depends on the president and I hope he finds a solution.”
But when asked about Arsenal he replied: “I can’t speak about the club. Now I am not the one who chooses, but my president. He decides if he lets me go or not, but I hope I can come back.”
The problem for Carrasco is that he has scored seven of Dalian’s 13 goals so far this season and the side lie in the bottom half of the Chinese Super League just four points above the relegation zone. That could make a move difficult this summer.
However, the problem for Arsenal is that Bayern Munich look set to switch their attentions to Carrasco having missed out on Manchester City’s Leroy Sane.
Saliba Talks Continue
Talks are at an advanced stage between Arsenal and St Etienne over the transfer of the French side’s 18-year-old central defender William Saliba.
French website Le 10 Sport claims St Etienne are open to a sale for the teenager. However, they are insisting on a valuation of €30 million (£27 million).
The site claims that while talks are ongoing the deal could yet take a few more weeks to conclude. St Etienne are pushing for a sale plus the loan of Saliba for one more year.
The teenager only made his debut in the season just ended. He played his first game in the 3-2 defeat at Bordeaux in December – just days after playing in the second-string version of the same fixture.
He has gone on to make a total of 18 appearances for the side.
