Manchester United have made an approach over Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic. The Red Devils may turn to Norwich City full-back Max Aarons if their transfer bid for Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka fails. More on those stories here.

Advisors to Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt have told him to join Manchester United rather than Barcelona as he would stand more chance of gaining place in United’s starting eleven. However, the Netherlands international says he will decide his future after taking a holiday. Real Madrid are still interested in United midfielder Paul Pogba.
