Meunier Transfer Moves Closer
Arsenal are in talks over a possible move for Paris Saint-Germain full-back Thomas Meunier.
Belgian football reporter Kristof Terreur claims negotiations are under way over a move for Meunier who has struggled to nail down a place in PSG’s starting line-up.
Arsenal have released Stephan Lichtsteiner and with Hector Bellerin out injured a right-back is a priority for the club.
“[Meunier] knows that he has one year left on his deal and has not been offered a new one at PSG, so yes he will leave probably,” Terreur told the Sky Sports’ Transfer Talk podcast.
“His agent has been pushing around and preparing everything for a move.
“Unai Emery has been in touch with him a few times.”
Much depends on whether Arsenal can raise the funds for a move. They were linked over the weekend with the Sampdoria duo of midfielder Dennis Praet and defender Joachim Andersen as well as Dalian Yifang striker Yannick Carrasco.
The Gunners are also being linked with Fiorentina midfielder Jordan Veretout but he is in talks over a move to Napoli.
The 26-year-old had a brief spell with Aston Villa before moving to Italy following Villa’s relegation from the Premier League in 2016.
According to French newspaper L’Equipe talks have been going on for some months between Napoli and Fiorentina.
Arsenal have made an enquiry. Roma and Sevilla are also interested.
