Andersen, Praet, Carrasco Deals ‘Close’
Arsenal are closing in on three new signings if reports are to believed. The Gunners are chasing the Sampdoria duo of Joachim Andersen and Dennis Praet as well as Belgian striker Yannick Carrasco who is currently with Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang.
Italian journalist Nicolo Schira claims the Gunners are ready to pay €48 million (£44 million) for Andersen and Praet. He claims steps have been taken to finalise the deal which in itself would pretty much exhaust Unai Emery’s transfer budget for the summer.
The Catalan newspaper Sport claims Carrasco is set to move back to Europe with a move to Arsenal on the cards.
Carrasco has admitted that talks have place with an un-named club – believed to be Arsenal – and that he is set to move closer to his family. His wife moved back to Belgium earlier this year.
“The Premier League is more physical, but there are also a lot of spaces to run into,” he said.
Martinez Set To Step Up
Meanwhile, Arsenal may rely on Emiliano Martinez as their second-choice goalkeeper for next season.
Petr Cech has played his final game for the club and looks set to move to Chelsea in a sporting director role. David Ospina spent the season on loan at Napoli but looks set to be sold. That means Arsenal relying on Martinez as back-up for Bernd Leno.
Martinez has spent nine years at the Emirates but he has made just six Premier League appearances for the club. His only appearance last season was in the 1-0 victory over Qarabag in the Europa League.
