Pogba To Swap Places With Bale?
Manchester United are being linked with Gareth Bale as part of a deal that could take Paul Pogba to Real Madrid.
Bale is out of favour at the Bernabeu and the Daily Mirror speculates that he could move to Old Trafford with the equally-out-of-favour Pogba heading to the Bernabeu.
However, Bale’s age is likely to form a barrier to any transfer. He turns 30 in July and at that point the club tends to lose interest in a player. Part of Jose Mourinho’s downfall was the failure of the club to sign more than one player last summer. The club were linked with a number of players but a number of them had turned 30 or were about to do so and coupled with large transfer fees the United hierarchy felt they represented poor value for money.
Manchester United are being linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier to play in the holding midfielder role. Nemanja Matic currently plays in that role but he turns 31 in August and the Red Devils are looking at a long-term replacement.
Meanwhile, Manchester United could face competition for transfer target Bruno Fernandes. Reports this week claimed Sporting Lisbon midfielder Fernandes is about to complete a move to following this weekend’s Nations League Finals. However, reports now claim he is wanted by Liverpool.
Portugese newspaper Record claims Fernandes’s agent Miguel Pinho will fly to London this week for talks with all interested clubs.
