De Ligt, Maguire Set To Snub United
Manchester United are out of the race to sign Ajax central defender Matthijs de Ligt.
United were candidates along with Barcelona to sign the Netherlands international whose header equalised for the Dutch in their 3-1 Nations League victory over England on Thursday night.
But while it’s still a two-horse race for the 19-year-old United are no longer one of the runners – at least if French radio station RMC is to be believed.
Paris Saint-Germain have also joined the race for de Ligt and are now favourites to secure his signature.
United also look set to miss out on Leicester City defender Harry Maguire. The England defender is being linked once again with interest from Old Trafford but reports suggest he is also wanted by Manchester City and is more likely to move to the Etihad than Old Trafford.
Tielemans Seen As Pogba Replacement
Manchester United could make a move for Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans if Paul Pogba leaves Old Trafford this summer.
Belgium international Tielemans spent the second half of the season on loan at Leicester City where he impressed enough for the Foxes to look into a permanent transfer.
Monaco will demand around £40 million for Tielemans.
But United are likely to dig in their heels over any interest in Pogba despite recent reports linking him with Juventus and Real Madrid. Juve will only entertain a cash-plus-player deal. Real have already signed Luka Jovic and are on the verge of completing a deal for Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard. Pogba could end up staying at United.
One player who does look set to leave is full-back Matteo Darmian. Valencia are the latest side to show an interest in a deal that would be worth around £8 million.
