Carrasco Admits Offer Is On The Table
Arsenal are closing in on a move for the Belgian forward Yannick Carrasco.
The Gunners were linked with Carrasco in January but were unable to offer anything better than a loan deal. That wasn’t acceptable to his current side, Chinese club Dalian Yifang but the 25-year-old admits a move could be on the cards.
“There is now an offer on the table and the negotiations with my agent are progressing well,” he told Nieuwsblad.
“I am the most important player in the club, but I hope the chairman understands me.”
Carrasco has struggled to adapt to life in China since he moved from Atletico Madrid in January 2018 and his wife is believed to have moved back to Belgium.
“From a family point of view, I would rather play in Europe and stay closer to my family. The adjustment for my family was also difficult over there.
“I have become a lot more mature and have learned a lot. Also on the field, where I had to take my responsibility and the team had to bear. But my wish now is to return.”
Dalian are expected to dig in their heels over any move. Carrasco has scored seven of their 13 league goals so far this season in just ten appearances for the club.
Arsenal have ended their interest in St Etienne full-back William Saliba. The 18-year-old is still a transfer target for Manchester City.
Arsenal could also lose out to AC Milan in the race for Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen. The Dane could follow his coach Marco Giampaolo if he makes a move to the San Siro.
