Fernandes Deal Due?
Manchester United will announce Bruno Fernandes as their first signing of the summer once the Nations League Finals are over.
The Sporting Lisbon midfielder has been linked with interest from Old Trafford with reports from Portugal suggesting United are front-runners for his signature.
But according to the Daily Star, any move has been put on hold as Fernandes competes in the Nations League Finals tournament with Portugal. He played practically the whole game on Wednesday as his side defeated Switzerland 3-1 to advance to the final on Sunday. England play the Netherlands in the other semi final in Guimaeres this evening.
Talks are reported to have taken place this week with United keen on a deal being announced soon after Sunday’s final.
However, Fernandes himself has played down the chances of a move. Speaking to Diario de Noticias he said: “I said that I would leave Sporting once my ambitions were greater than those of the club, but they are not at the moment. The ambition to be national champion is still here and so I have no reason to leave.
“Obviously if an irrefutable proposal for me arrives, and it’s good for the club, let’s get together and decide together.”
No Juve Move For Pogba
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail claims Manchester United are ready to rebuff any offers for Paul Pogba.
The newspaper believes Juventus cannot afford to buy back the Frenchman although reports have suggested the Serie A side could offer one of a number of players as part of any deal. Striker Paulo Dybala is one of the players to have been mentioned.
Juve splashed out €100 million on Cristiano Ronaldo last summer and are unable to spend the same again on Pogba.
Real Madrid have also been linked with the France international but that interest appears to have either been overstated or it wasn’t there in the first place.
