Arsenal have been linked with Stuttgart defender Ozan Kabak.

The Turkey under-18 international only moved to Stuttgart from Galatasaray in the January transfer window and has already won plaudits for his performances. But Stuttgart were relegated from the Bundesliga at the end of the season leading to speculation that Kabak could be sold.

But Stuttgart sporting director Thomas Hitzlsperger has hinted that the 19-year-old Kabak could be just the kind of player his side needs to help them regain their place in Germany’s top flight.

Stuttgart paid just over £9 million for the defender in January.

Kabak played 15 Bundesliga games for Stuttgart following his arrival at the club and the three goals he scored for the side were the first of his career.

Arsenal are expected to bolster their defence this summer. However, any move from the Gunners depends on whether or not they can move players on. Shkodran Mustafi looks to be the most obvious candidate, but Arsenal failed to sell him last summer and his £180,000-a-week wages will be a major stumbling block to any potential purchaser.
