United Scouts Set To Watch Felix

Joao Felix Manchester United transfer news

Manchester United will battle it out with Real Madrid and local rivals Manchester City for Benfica midfielder Joao Felix.

Scouts from all three clubs are expected to be at Wednesday night’s Europa League semi-final clash between Portugal and Switzerland where the 19-year-old Felix is expected to make an appearance.

United have watched Felix on a number of occasions this season.

The teenager was the subject in January of a bid of €70 million – at the time worth around £61 million – from Liverpool that was rejected out of hand by Benfica. The Portugese side have put a valuation of €120 million (£107 million) on Felix.

Manchester United are favourites to sign Leicester City midfielder James Maddison although it will take a bid of £60 million to prise him away from the Foxes.

United have been in contact with Maddison’s representatives although a lack of Champions League football next season will be a factor in his thinking.

United have been told to pay €35 million (£31 million) for Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Lille finished second behind Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 with Maignan keeping15 clean sheets. He was recently named goalkeeper of the year in France by the country’s players’ union.

Maignan is being seen as a possible replacement for David De Gea whose contractual situation remains unresolved. The Spaniard is out of contract next summer.
