Arsenal Eye Up Move For Inter Milan Keeper

Serie A Keeper On Arsenal Transfer Radar

Arsenal transfer news

Arsenal are being linked with a move for Inter Milan keeper Ionut Radu.

The Gunners look set to enter the transfer market for a new keeper who will act as back-up to first-choice stopper Bernd Leno. Current second-choice keeper Petr Cech will retire as a player when his contract formally comes to an end on 1 July. Colombia international David Ospina will be sold. He spent this season on loan at Serie A side Napoli.

The 22-year-old Radu is believed to be a candidate for the position and this was confirmed over the weekend by his agent Crescenzo Cecere.

“There are so many teams interested, including Lyon. Recently, there was also a survey from Arsenal,” he said.

“He is a very interesting prospect since he is growing a lot, from all points of view.”

Inter need to raise £40 million by the end of this month in order to comply with Uefa’s Financial Fair Play regulations and Radu is one of the players being tipped to leave.

Radu came up through the youth ranks at Inter after moving to Italy with his family from their native Romania in 2013. However, he has only one 18-minute substitute appearance to his name – against Sassuolo in 2016.

Radu has spent the last two seasons out on loan. He spent this season with Genoa where he made 33 league appearances for a side that only avoided relegation from Serie A by one goal. He spent the 2016-17 campaign with Serie B side Avellino.

He has yet to make a full international appearance for Romania having won 13 caps for his country’s under-21 side.
